On Saturday, May 10, Edda Wind celebrated the naming ceremony of the Commissioning Service Operational Vessel (CSOV) “Austri Enabler” at Gondan Shipbuilders in Spain.
Lady Sponsor is Ingeborg Kolbeinsen Lien, VP Accounting and Compliance in Edda Wind.
Austri comes from Nordic mythology and represents one of the four characters (Sudri, Nordri, Vestri and Austri) holding up the sky after it was made by the Gods from the skull of Ymir. Austri Enabler is the fourth and last vessel in a series of four sister vessels from Gondan and follows Nordri Enabler, Sudri Enabler and Vestri Enabler.

Austri Enabler is expected to be delivered from Gondan Shipbuilders in early June. As previously announced, Austri Enabler has secured a 12 months (plus options) contract following delivery and will commence operation outside UK in Q3 2025.
Austri Enabler and her sister vessels are designed to set a new standard in the offshore wind market. Every effort has been made in the design to maximize the efficiency of operations in the wind farm. In addition, Austri Enabler is prepared for running emission-free operations with a hydrogen-based propulsion system (LOHC). The vessel will serve as mother vessel for wind turbine technicians as they perform commissioning and maintenance work on offshore wind turbines. The CSOV is 88.3 in length and can accommodate up to 120 persons in total.
“I want to thank everyone contributing to making this day so special. Thank you to Gondan Shipbuilders for their effort in building this vessel, and same to all others who have worked on this project. Also, a big thank you to Ingeborg Kolbeinsen Lien for doing us the honor of being the Lady Sponsor”, says CEO in Edda Wind, Hermann H. Øverlie.
